Attorney Sixt currently runs her own law firm specializing in Criminal Defense in Massachusetts Juvenile, District, and Superior Courts. She has been a supervisor of the Essex County Bar Association Advocates since 2018. She was recently appointed as the Director of the Essex County Bar Association Advocates in December 2023. As part of her role as Director of the Bar Advocate program, Amy is responsible for overseeing 200+ attorneys in the program. She is also responsible for developing trainings and monthly seminars for the attorneys in the program.
Attorney Sixt is currently a member of the Juvenile, District Court, Superior Court, and Murder panels, where she accepts a range of court-appointed cases including domestic violence matters, armed robberies, drug offenses, operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs (OUI), shootings, and home invasions. She also develops seminars that work with CPCS in training new Lawyers in Criminal Defense.

The Essex County Bar Advocate program hires and supervises private attorneys to accept public defender assignments. The Essex County Bar Advocate Program covers the Essex Superior Courts in Salem and Lawrence as well as Lynn District Court, Peabody District Court, Gloucester District Court, Lawrence District Court, Haverhill District Court, Newburyport District Court, Ipswich District Court, and Salem District Court.
